MonkeyLogo has been having some major problems staying online this past week. To find out why, you should at least skim the last post. They find creative ways to ensure that they get their fair share of MonkeyLogo's ridicule. The bot, having no mind of its own, is eager to give it to them. As we all know with a chat bot, an incoming message generates an outgoing message. But no, it must be personal.
To keep going, we must set the stage and introduce some new people. As usual in my write-ups, I am changing names to protect the dumb.

At this point, I was thinking, "OK, I've got the screennames blocked. They won't be able to IM it any more, problem solved." I would find out later just how wrong I was. Of course it's partially my fault, because I thought these people were funny so I only blocked one of K-Rock' screennames just so I could watch her get digitally flustered. I strongly suspect she is the one who "KNOWS ALL CODES" from our last adventure but I can't be sure.
What would happen next, with the new deny and counter-warn
features?
Surely they would leave the bot alone... But if you guessed they would keep
chatting, I urge you to open your
own psychic hotline
They send their IMs, receive a reply. WARN!
--WHAM... They are warned back and blocked. Not only that, but they
receive the following message:
This is just a computer program.
If you don't want to receive any messages, simply block monkeylogo
This program is not insulting you personally, it insults everyone.
Later on, I thought it would be funny put in a special case that did not reply
to, but rather just sent a warning to their screennames. So for every message
they sent the bot, it would issue a warning. Taste of their own medicine. Is
anyone reading this familiar with the phrase, "Never underestimate the
power of stupid people in large groups."
I cannot be sure of the logic that followed, but here is an artist's rendition...
Hmmm, this screenname keeps insulting me. It warned me and now I'm
blocked from being insulted.
The last screenname says it all. |
But let's not forget about GQ, who loves to send messages
of solely the letter P. Let's have some fun with this guy...
Google is a great source of information, so I decided I would type his name
into their search
engine. Look at that! Apparently
he loves raving. I put the letter P as a trigger, and copied things from
his website to be sent back to him.
To show some examples, I used
He seemed surprised to see personalized content. MonkeyLogo crashed soon afterwards, and I decided to remove the personal information, and put him back on the "don't reply, just warn" list.
I'm really out of ideas with what to do. I've blocked their usual names, but I can't block them all. By blocking their names, that prevents their names from seeing that MonkeyLogo is online. Apparently they use their friends to inform them when the computer signs on.
MonkeyLogo hasn't even been online for 2 months, and he's already one of the most hated screennames I've ever seen. Earlier this evening, someone said they reported him because he said, "Shut up or I'll bitchslap you so hard you'll see more stars than the Hubble Telescope!" I try to keep him free of threats and sexual suggestions, but that one slipped through. The person he told that to got really angry and claimed she filed a report with AOL against him. Between K-Rock, GQ, and the harassment reports everyone says they plan to file, I wonder how long my bot will be around.
Why don't people just use the block button.
